Below My Feet

Keep the earth below my feet

For all my sweat, my blood runs weak

Let me learn from where I have been

Keep my eyes to serve and hands to learn

Keep my eyes to serve and hands to learn

So I was still

I was under your spell

When I was told by Jesus all was well

So all must be well

Marcus may be the son of evangelical church leaders, but I’d caution any Christian who assumes that they mean what we’d think they mean. These lyrics are a case in point. Is it good to be under someone’s spell? Could he possibly be saying “All must be well” in a sarcastic way? I’d argue that the worldview of this band is clearly postmodern. There’s a spirituality there, but it’s not Christian. That being said, I do like Mumford & Sons and they’re fun to listen to.
